The PBA50 Tour makes its first visit to Minnesota when Island Xtreme Bowl in Welch hosts the PBA50 Treasure Island Resort & Casino Open presented by MOTIV Aug. 18-21 for the final event of the 2013 PBA50 Tour season.
PBA50 Finals berth up for grabs: PBA Hall of Famers Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Amleto Monacelli have clinched berths for the ESPN-televised PBA50 Tour Finals scheduled for early November at the World Series of Bowling V in Las Vegas but one spot remains open. Hall of Famer Pete Weber will battle two-time PBA50 Tour champion Lennie Boresch Jr. of Kenosha, Wis., for the final berth. PBA Finals spots are determined by PBA50 Player of the Year points. Heading into the final event, Weber has 30 points while Boresch is fourth with 29 points. Points available in Welch are 16 for first place, 8 for second, 4 for third and 2 for fourth place.

First tour event in Minnesota since 1971: The PBA50 Treasure Island Resort and Casino also marks the first tour event of any kind to be conducted in Minnesota since Mike Limongello won the U.S. Open in 1971. In a battle of future Hall of Famers, Limongello of Babylon, N.Y., defeated Teata Semiz of River Edge, N.J., 194-186, in the championship match of ABC-TV’s Pro Bowlers Tour telecast.
