PBA Spare Shots Plus: PBA to Conduct "Pick the Finalists” Contest During World Series of Bowling V

by Bill Vint October 18, 2013 12:09

The Professional Bowlers Association has announced a new online contest that will be conducted during World Series of Bowling V to reward viewers who follow PBA competition via Xtra Frame, the PBA’s exclusive online bowling channel, and those who track the World Series via live scoring on pba.com, Facebook, Twitter or other outlets.

The new contest will give fans a chance to predict who will make the ESPN finals for each of the World Series events while playing for pride against other fans. It’s a take-off on the popular “fantasy football” concept, and includes a number of prizes, including a valuable grand prize at the end – round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations to PBA WSOB VI – if that winner is an Xtra Frame subscriber.

Any PBA fan can win during the contest, but monthly or yearly Xtra Frame subscribers will have a chance to win bonus prizes, including the special grand prize.

For all of the competition, fans will want to refer to the PBA World Series of Bowling V entry list. For the complete roster of players entered, click here: http://www.pba.com/Rosters/Details/1955.

BPAA ANNOUNCES BOWLING’S U.S. OPEN WON’T BE HELD IN 2014

Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America Tournament Committee Chairman John Losito announced Friday that Bowling's U.S. Open format will not be conducted in 2014, but BPAA expects to resume its signature tournament in 2015.

"After running successful events in Dallas, Reno and most recently in Columbus, Ohio, and soliciting some in-depth feedback from participants and BPAA member centers, we want to look at ways to freshen and improve the Men's and Women's Bowling's U.S. Opens in 2015 and beyond," Losito said.

BPAA also announced it will conduct a Women’s All Star Tournament in July 2014 in Rockford, Ill., in celebration of the formation of the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour (which later became the Professional Women’s Bowling Association) and 40 years of women’s professional tournaments hosted by Rockford proprietor John Sommer, the co-founder of the LPBT.
