During USBC Masters Week, PBA.com’s Xtra Frame is Free

by Jerry Schneider February 2, 2010 10:11

PBA.com visitors who have not yet subscribed to its online video service Xtra Frame will now be able to take advantage of a free promotional offer to watch the United States Bowling Congress Masters Feb. 8-14.

More and more bowling fans are tuning into Xtra Frame to get unprecedented coverage and live streaming of Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour events. In fact, subscriptions to Xtra Frame have increased 44 percent since it rolled out last fall.

Those who take advantage of the free USBC Masters coverage offer will also be able to tune into Xtra Frame’s SportCenter-style news program PBA: 39x60 which  provides exclusive pre- and post-finals coverage.

And, not only will fans get expanded Masters coverage, they will also be able to check out hundreds of hours of archived bowling programming during “free week.”

To take advantage of the free offer, users will need to install a free Silverlight software program. Here’s how users can watch next week:

· Free trial period is from February 8–14, 2010.

· First, make sure that Silverlight is installed.  It is a free download from Microsoft.  To get the latest version go to: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx

· Once a user has downloaded and installed Silverlight successfully they can go to

http://xtraframe.pba.com/

·Users can watch any video on the Xtra Frame site.  The live streaming will load up in the main video slot automatically.  It can be refreshed by hitting “play” or by clicking on the link in the top right corner when on the “new” tab.

Here are the dates, times and content Xtra Frame will be streaming live during the week:

Tuesday, Feb. 9 – Noon – 7 p.m. – Round 1 qualifying

Wednesday, Feb. 10 – Noon – 7 p.m. – Round 2 qualifying

Extra Frame should get a new lens.....It is so blury compared to U-Tube or any other videos I watch. Please get a better lens camera. If you compare the KK TofC match on U-tube and extra frame.....U-tubes is 100 times better. There is nothing wrong with my computer....on other sites I see things clear as a bell.  Let me know when you are going to get a 1080P len. thanks because I love extra frame and watch every chance I get. I agree that the lighting is bad occasionally but understand that. When you're covering multiple lanes the only lighting you have is the natural lighting from the bowling center.  I'd also like to have better camera angles when watching qualifying play, though again I understand the limitations you're dealing with.  Bottom line, despite my complaints I still love Xtra Frame and wouldn't want to do without it now.  Hopefully with more subscriptions it will generate enough revenue to add more features and further improve our viewing experience.

I also love the technical information you get on the xtra frame shows, particularly during match play when they take viewer questions. I've learned a lot about cover stocks, drilling patterns, tips on how to play the lanes (and also about how to setup a condition to suit you) and tons of other stuff that has helped me better understand my game. Keep improving and I'll keep subscribing!

Both of the links on this page go to the same place even though they are the correct URL:

mail2.pba.com/.../logon.aspx%3a%2f%2fmail2.pba.com%2fowa%2fredir.aspx%3fC%3df2fa051157f0404d9cc9a9a8aa7478e9%26URL%3dhttp%253a%252f%252fwww.microsoft.com%252fsilverlight%252fget-started%252finstall%252fdefault.aspx

Which happens to be an Outlook Web Access Exchange type web email (for the PBA I suspect from the URL).

I suggest someone talk to the web Master before 2/8 and people can't figure out how they actually need to copy and paste those URLs if they want to gt anywhere.

It is a hoax. Where the hell is the free trial. Don't waste my time if there is no free trial.

www.microsoft.com/.../default.aspx

You can install silverlight from the above link but I still get the Outlook web login like the above user stated. Somebody please look into this, get in touch with your website admin.

Quote: Free trial period is from February 8–14, 2010

So where is the free trial? The URL http://xtraframe.pba.com just shows how to pay for it - not how to get a free trial.

The free trial was initiated at 9:30 am PST, so everyone should now be able to check out Xtra Frame.  The links in the above article have also been corrected.  Thanks for the heads up.

@Barry: Thank you. Personally, I will be using this free trial to decide if I want to sub.

Let's see how well latest xtraframe works before I consider subscribing again. I used to be a ex-subscriber for some years but quit last year because of poor service. I hope PBA.com can give me the confidence again.

So many bowlers are out of work or might be in the future. Many are having their benefits cut. Money is tight. In my opinion, this is not the time to ask for money for your product. FREE IS SMART. FREE should grow your fan base until the economy improves. In addition you need to improve your product. I love bowling and I love high definition (HD) video as can be viewed on Hulu. Don't you make money when I hit the link to one of your sponsors?
