SEATTLE, WASH. - The Gemini Sports custom jerseys worn by exempt players on the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour last season are the best things to come along since Ernie Schlegel wore his famous Bicentennial Kid outfits in the 1970’s.
I was always a big fan of the snappy dressers on the Pro Bowlers Tour, which included Schlegel, Guppy Troup and Danny Wiseman among others. Still am.
I remember my first trip to the local fabric store to purchase a roll of silver sequins…now that got some heads turning! I took Home Economics in High School and made my fingers bleed with needle and thread hand-stitching the sparkles to my rockin’ 80’s white pants. Somewhere in my High School drama department, a star-spangled red, white and blue shirt from “A Chorus Line” disappeared from the shelf.
Thank Denny Terrio and Issac the Bartender those days are gone! Now custom-made with choice of color, design and logo placement: the Gemini Sports custom jerseys make it easier for players to showcase their personalities and sponsors. If these had been around when I was bowling competitively, we would have been the hottest team around sponsored by the local frozen custard shoppe – enterprising youth trading a few hot-fudge sundaes for sponsorship.
No more patches needing to be glued, taped, hand-stitched…the Gemini jerseys feature dye-sublimated logos on material that is very easy to wear. No more patches falling off at the foul line, plus the investment is very reasonable; not much more than plain matching shirts off the rack at the nearest discount store.
Imagine a youth tournament, high school finals, collegiate event or PBA Regional filled with bright colors, easy-to-read names and ready-made sponsor recognition all coming together. There is no feeling like being a part of a team and getting your new shirt or stepping out on the lanes yourself ready for competition. The “Bowling Shirt” is an unmistakable piece of Americana and has now been updated for the 21st century.
