The PBA and ESPN today announced the 2005-06 Denny’s PBA Tour television schedule which features 21 telecasts, up from 20 telecasts over each of the past four seasons. Of the 21 shows, 20 will be televised live on ESPN and each will run 90 minutes. “The 2005-06 Denny’s PBA Tour season will mark the fifth consecutive campaign PBA events have been featured exclusively on ESPN,” said PBA Commissioner and CEO Fred Schreyer. “ESPN continues to be a valuable partner in our efforts to promote the PBA and the sport of bowling.” The first telecast of the season is Sunday, October 30 at 1 p.m. ET for the finals of the 2005 Tulsa Championship, live from the Donald W. Reynolds Center on the University of Tulsa campus. “The PBA is a strong property for ESPN that has shown consistent audience growth,” said Leah LaPlaca, ESPN senior director, programming and acquisitions. “We look forward to beginning the season with a consistent Sunday afternoon telecast for the fifth consecutive year and a newly expanded schedule.” Highlights of ESPN’s 2005-06 Denny’s PBA Tour television schedule include the finals of the season’s first major, the 2005 USBC Masters November 20 at 1 p.m. ET live from U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, Wis. The finals of the 2006 Atlanta Classic will air tape-delayed Sunday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. ET as the lead-in to Super Bowl XL. The 2006 Atlanta Classic marks the only non-live televised event of the season. Two weeks later, the finals of the 63rd U.S. Open will be televised Sunday, Feb. 19 at 12:30 p.m. ET from Brunswick Zone Carolier in North Brunswick, N.J. Last season’s telecast featured Chris Barnes winning his first career major title over eventual 2005 PBA Player of the Year Patrick Allen, 213-212, in the title match. The finals of the 2006 Denny’s World Championship will be televised Sunday, March 26 at 2 p.m. ET, live from Hinkle Fieldhouse on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis. A $100,000 top prize and a four-season Denny’s PBA Tour exemption will be awarded to the winner. The 2005-06 Denny’s PBA Tour season concludes with the 2006 Dexter Tournament of Champions telecast Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m. ET, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
